Last year I went to Dad’s office!

I was in a great mood this morning and had my usual breakfast. I was excited to see the chicken curry back on the menu for lunch. The day was mostly uneventful, except that Dad was home when I got up for my nap. On a Wednesday!? That’s unheard of!
He was definitely in a very playful mood and when Mom got home she joined in the fun with us! You can, too:
Last year I was sticking out my tongue at Marty!

I woke up to one of the nicest days I can remember – and I was in a great mood to match. I ate all of my breakfast (including finishing off the fritatta) and we went straight out to the yard as soon as I finished. The air smelled springy and there were so many birds chirping I didn’t even know what do with myself!
We had to eat lunch inside because it was too messy to eat outside (I’m obviously not old enough to understand that logic!). After I got all cleaned up we went to the park and for a walk. We ended up being gone for two hours! We got back and I was exhausted. I had a snack and was more than ready to sleep.
I got home around 6:00 and Mom was home! I didn’t eat much for dinner, but at least I wasn’t too fussy. Man, I’ll be happy when I’ve finished the parsnips. I bet no baby in the world has eaten more parsnips than I have.
I really enjoyed my bath. I cracked myself up every time I poured water on my head! It was time for bed but my room was really warm so I got to wear shorts.
I was more sleepy than usual today, but was happy to see Nana when Mom brought me downstairs. It was a beautiful day, so we even went outside before breakfast which I don’t think we’ve done before. I ate my egg, prune, and oatmeal and we went right back outside. Before long it was nap time and I got about 90 minutes of sleep in. Our routine was changed a bit today because the house was being cleaned — we have to be a bit more nimble to stay out of their way!
I ate an early lunch, but since it included chicken curry, I didn’t mind at all. We went downstairs and played until 1:30. At 2:45 I ate leftovers from lunch (with a little treat of baked apples – yum!). I slept for almost 2 hours and woke up in a terrible mood!
Even when Mom got home and tried to talk to Dad on the phone, I had none of that. Mom’s friend Kyle came over around 6:40, so I had to be on better behavior.
As usual for a Sunday, Dad got up with me and we played downstairs until breakfast. We tried extra-hard to be quiet so as not to bother Mom. As soon as she got up, Dad ran downstairs to work and I spent most of the rest of the day playing with Mom. That was perfect, since she had been busy the last couple weekends. What’s with my parents working so much on the weekend!?
We had a fun time playing and went down to visit Dad a few times. Here’s one of ’em:
We even tried to convince him to come to the park, but he refused to play along. We had a lot of fun outside and then came back in for my snack and nap. I was especially excited to see that Mom was cooking two of my favorite dishes — chicken curry and orzo! I hope I get to eat those ASAP!
Dad left for a conference around 6:00 and I had dinner with Mom and we had lots of fun until I had to go sleep.
CRISIS: Dad accidentally deleted three days worth of pictures! Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week are undocumented. Who knows what happened!?!?
Wednesday was good. I was up at 4:55 (!) and talked to myself until Mom got me at 5:20. I ate a good breakfast, took a long nap, and then was in a great mood. I threw some food on the floor when I started getting full. Nana was NOT happy. Rachel came by at 5:00 and took over for Nana (Mom had a dinner for work). Other than trying to convince Rachel to give me a bath before bed time, the rest of my day went very smoothly.
On Thursday morning, I was all about helping (well, sort of) with the domestic chores. I emptied out my cabinet, taking everything into the family room. That was quite an accomplishment. Then I put it all away. Rachel came again at 5:00 and while we were playing with my farm, it broke! I was so confused — and concerned! Luckily, it’s totally fixable.
Friday was a good day as I was in an especially great mood. I got good sleep in, ate well, and Mom was home early! Dinner was rough, as I started throwing food on the floor almost immediately. Mom tried to play tough with me — taking my food away. But then she felt bad that I hadn’t eaten enough, so she gave me banana and bread before bed time. I won!
Saturday was quite an adventure. As usual, I went to the grocery store with Dad. He let me spend a lot of time outside of the cart, which was fun. We got home and I ate breakfast. The adventure for the day, though, was after lunch when we all went to the zoo! I have to say that most of the zoo was pretty boring, but I loved seeing the horse and especially the birds. They also have a fun little play area with a big tractor tire and big egg tunnel.
Today was quite unusual, especially for a weekday. I got up with Mom and she hung out with me until Dad got up and dressed. I played with Dad until breakfast, when he made the mistake of having his bowl of cereal while he tried to feed me. I threw a fit until he let me try his food and then I threw a fit because I wanted to eat his oh-so-sweet goodness! Nana came around 8:00 and Dad went down to the office to work. Nana and I went right out to the park for an hour of fun before coming back and reading a bunch of books.
Oh, before I forget, here are my favorite pictures from April:

Around 10:00 — my usual nap time — Nana and Dad loaded up the car, put me in my car seat (with a pacifier and Puppy) and off we went. I fell asleep, of course, but when I woke up we were in Bourbonnais at Nana’s and Grandpa’s house — where I have only been one other time.
A nice family is moving into their house this weekend and we went to grab a few of our things. I was in luck, because instead of finding an empty house, the new family had already started moving in. And man, do they have some fun stuff!
Dad’s old bedroom has been turned into a veritable fun room, with a huge princess-tent in the middle. And everything was pink! I even got to have a picnic in the front yard — it’s amazing how quiet it is and how loud the chirping birds are.
We left just in time for me to fall asleep on the ride home. When we got back, Nana took me out to the park for a quick evening workout. Mom was home when we got back and she fed me dinner (while Dad interrupted trying to kiss me — I had to put an end to that!). Dinner ended when I threw food on the floor, but the fun resumed with farm-playing, book-reading, and ball-throwing. I bit the ball a couple times (hey, better than Dad’s leg!) and before long it was bath time (three days in a row — what gives?) and then bed time!

Last year I celebrated the end of a poop watch.
Mom came to get me when I got up in the morning and I hung out with her while she got ready for work and while Dad took his shower. Mom, Dad, and I went downstairs together and Dad helped Mom load her stuff into the cab that was waiting for her. I played with Dad until breakfast, which went really fast. I ate almost all of my oatmeal, my prunes, and my entire egg.
Nana came over just as we were finishing up and Dad went down to the office. As soon as Nana got settled in, we left for the park, spending a good hour outside. We read some books and then I helped Nana change my dirty diaper before my nap, which is now regularly starting at 10:00.
I woke up in a great mood, evidenced by the fact that I willingly ate two fish sticks for lunch! I even drank a big cup of milk, ate a pile of root veggies, and cleaned up the succotash that was left over from yesterday. Hey, I burned a lot of calories in the park!
The fun continued after lunch as I honed my basketball skills. I can now dunk the big pink ball in my pack-n-play. It’s not easy! I had a good snack at 3:00 and then took my afternoon nap.
I woke up a bit cranky, but Dad and I went for a walk (to the bank and post office) that included a brief stop in the park. It was really hopping, with a group of kids there for a park district event. We got back well past my usual dinner time and I was so hungry! I ate all of my hidden veggie sauce (with some bread), a bowl of corn and salmon chowder, the oatmeal I didn’t finish at breakfast, and a bunch of strawberries!
I cleaned up my toys (well, I mostly put away the books while Dad put away the toys) and then Dad gave me a bath — even though I had one yesterday. He must be trying to impress Mom.

Last year I turned two months old!

First of all, happy mother’s day to Mom, Grandma Droste, Nana Yagan, and Great Grandma Droste!
I got up this morning and Dad made a point to get me before I babbled too much so that Mom could sleep in. I hadn’t even bothered to stand up yet, I was still rolling around in my crib when Dad came in. He kept shushing me and then he whisked me downstairs, got my shoes and jacket on, and off we went to Dominick’s.
Dad let me roam in the produce department like he did last week. I had a lot of fun with the “potato toppers” packages. I think the entire store came to a halt when we checked out, as everyone watched me follow Dad’s request to touch my ear, my nose, my belly, etc. We got home a bit late for breakfast and Mom got up pretty much as soon as we got in. I ate, played, and napped at 10:00.
When I got up, Mom dressed me up in a dress Nana and Grandpa Yagan got me for my birthday and off we went to Nana’s to have Mother’s Day lunch. We all had a great time — the only bummer was that we forgot the battery for our camera, so we don’t have any pictures to share. The food was good (I got to eat everything they ate!) and everyone was in a great mood so it was a lot of fun.
We left in time to get home for my snack and nap. I ate a ton (cheese, yogurt, carrots) and then slept for about 2 hours! I got up and Mom was excited to go for a walk, but we were all surprised at how cold it was! I was wearing a sleeveless dress. Then Mom put pants under my dress. Then Mom decided I needed a long sleeve shirt. Then Mom decided I needed a jacket. Then Mom decided I needed a winter hat! Getting dressed took forever.
The park was hopping, though, and I played for a while before we had to get back home for dinner, bath, and bedtime!
A year ago today I got the cookbook that would decide my diet for months!

Today was a strange Saturday — much like last week. Instead of Dad getting me out of my crib, Mom did. And it seemed like a weekday as she got in the shower, got dressed, and took off. She played with me and read some books before she left me with Dad.
Dad and I came downstairs and played until breakfast time, which I devoured in no time. As usual, Dad goes stir crazy when it’s just us, so we got of the house by 8:30. It was so cold outside! We bundled up and were just about the only people in the park. It got pretty windy, so we went to — where else — Starbucks! Dad got his drink and then we headed home. We played down in the office until 10:00 and then I took my nap.
I slept until 12:00 and then ate lunch. I ate a ton — including all of the leftovers from yesterday and half a zucchini. We played and read until 2:30. Dad was impressed that I now help with the diaper changing process. I get the clean diaper, the changing pad, and the wipes. And then I put them all away when we’re done (except for the wet diaper!). Nana taught me all this!
At 2:30, I helped Dad make brownies. I sat so still and didn’t even stick my hands in the batter, even though it was sooo tempting. As a reward for my help, Dad let me lick the batter off the mixer! Mom got home around 2:40 and we played until snack time.
I demonstrated my tremendous fork skills and really impressed Dad, who hadn’t seen any of the warm-up acts this week. Dad put me to bed for my nap. When I got up Mom was so excited to play with me. We had all kinds of fun, but it was too cold to go outside.
Dinner was kind of rough, as I ended up getting in trouble for throwing food on the floor! After Mom pretended to be mad at me for 5-10 minutes, we played on my mat and had fun. I even started learning new tricks with my big pink ball.
