9/28-9/29: Check Me Out Getting Ready for School

Lounging with “blue-a blue-a”

Monday was a dreary, rainy day.  I slept in a bit (past 7!) and cooked an egg with Dad.  When Nana got here, she had brought with her the Elmo car that she had at her apartment — I’m too big to ride on the lion now, so she’s going to take that back to her and Papa’s place.  Nana and I took advantage of a break in the weather to get out to the park in the morning.   When we got back we did a lot of singing and a lot of talking in Arabic; I’m totally going to be bilingual!

In the evening, I “helped” Dad fold some laundry and we took our own trip to the park.  It was pretty chilly, but I refused to wear my jacket (which Mom later told Dad I’m not allowed to do!).  I was fussy during dinner and I had to have a time-out becuase I threw food on the floor.

On Tuesday morning I was really surprised to see Dad get up with us and help get me ready for school!  I ate a bunch of blueberries (which I call “blueah-blueah”) and hung out with Mom and Dad until it was time to go.  I had a great day at school.  I sang along to a new song, “Little Fish” which is a finger-puppet story.  We also went to the library (which I love, but the one at school isn’t as cool as the one by my house) and I loved playing with the oatmeal at the sensory table!

Everyone should have a backpack!

9/27: My First Photo Shoot

Rogue photo!

I was excited to wake up and get to hang out with Uncle Dee-da again today!   After breakfast, all of us went to the park and were shocked to see soccer lessons for kids 18-24 months old!  That’s me!  Unfortunately, we didn’t realize that I could have just joined, so we took a brochure and went to the playground.  On our way back home, we walked by and practice was ending, so I kicked around a little bit.  I’m planning to join next week.  Can you imagine me in a soccer uniform!  I’ll look so big!

We went back home, had brunch at Janik’s, and then I took a nap.  When I got up, Mom and Dad were all dressed up and Mom got me dressed up in a salmon-colored sack-dress.  Unfortunately, it was waaaaay too big for me.  Normally, that would have been fine, excepth this wasn’t just any afternoon — we were scheduled to have a photo shoot with the Yagan side of the family!

Everyone was calm.  We ran by Carter’s on our way to the park/lake.  We picked up a cute dress and a fancy pair of shoes.  When we got there, we met Andy and got going!  Apparently I was the focal point of the event.  Everyone kept trying to get me to smile, look here, and look there.  I hope I did well!

After it was done we went home for our weekly Sunday-night fish dinner.  I love cooking fish — and eating it!

Last year I discovered shopping.

9/25 -9/26: Finn’s Birthday Party

I’m a ham.

I was fussier than usual Friday morning, which I’m blaming on my cold!  I ate very well (I love helping to cook my own breakfast) but during playtime I was not my usual self, even wanting Nana to hold me.  I finally got a much-needed nap at 11.  I woke up feeling a little better, but still a bit off my game.  It was raining, so we just stayed in.

The big event on Saturday was my friend Finn’s second birthday party!  (Sorry, Dad, our trip to the grocery store isn’t memorable anymore!)

So, I’m waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind on videos. I’m about to fix that:

Birthday cake!

9/22-9/24: I’m a Little Teapot

I love mai (arabic for “water”)

I woke up in a great mood on Tuesday despite my cold.   I had O’s for my morning snack before heading to school with Mom.  I had a great day at school.  I was especially interactive and social and have totally mastered my use of the spoon.  Mom and I sang all the way home — I especially love “teapot!”  I didn’t do great with dinner, took a bath, and got to bed a bit late, at 8.

Wednesday morning was really good.  I had a scrambled egg (“cook-eh egg-eh”) and pea-oatmeal (DAD!) for breakfast.  The roof repair people were here again today so we were a bit limited in our ability to go to the park.  We had a lot of fun!  When Mom got home, Nana and I were out on walk (I was actually walking!) and I was wearing my green boots.  I loved my pea-burger for dinner and especially the 15 raspberries that followed.  After dinner I played with my new shoews, identified all of my family members in the picture frames, and got to bed at 7:30.

I woke up in a stubborn mood on Thursday and gave Mom a hard time until I got to school and I was full of smiles.  I sang songs and danced — and that’s even before breakfast (looks like I’m a morning person!).  I was very interested in walking and playing with feathers.  I had an okay evening.  I was fussy and my runny nose just got worse.  I ate ok and totally have “two more” down as an improvement to the “one more” demand I’ve been making for weeks.

A year ago I also had a cold!

Learning how to dress myself!

9/20-9/21: Cook Ish!

Snack time!

Sunday morning was going as usual, until Mom and Dad piacked me up in our car and headed to school — or at least so it seemed.  We took exactly the same route and ended up in Oak Brook, jut a few blocks away from my school.  We were meeting with two of Mom’s & Dad’s friends, Chris and Steve, at Cheesecake Factory.   We sat outside and I got to nibble on everyone’s meals.

When we got back home, Dad had to work quite a bit, so I ended up getting to spend extra quality time with Mom.  I’ve got a bit of a runny nose, but that’s not going to slow me down.  We also continued our recent tradition of having a fish dinner on Sunday nights;  I got to “cooook ish”!

Monday morning I got up with Mom and Nana was here with me bright and early.  I had a cold but I was in a great mood.  I ate a scrambled egg and waffle along with a glass of milk and a slice of cheese.  We played inside and outside and red a bunch of books.  I ate my leftover fish  and a lot of peas for lunch.  I have really come to like the farmer/cowboy that came with the farm set I got for my birthday.  Nana even had fun giving him hugs, too!

Rachel came and 5:00 and we had a lot of fun playing together.  I was still very congested.  I talked to Dad before going to bed.

Man, I was  a big baby even a year ago!

Chillin’
