4/12-4/18: A Great Week

Who says I can't balance on one foot? (Mom!)

Well, I’ll start off by sharing photo albums from way back in January and February. Sorry they’re so late, but they bring back great memories:

Back to this week!

I had a good morning with Julie and was really excited to see Nana when she got here.  She brought a duffle bag full of food, so I helped her unload it into the fridge.  I was very happy to see all the delicous treates she brought.  I had a lot of energy, which I released by running in the kitchen, dancing to music, and playing out in the yard.   We had another picnic lunch before naptime.  Nana made my some baked apples, which I devoured when I got up.   Rachel came by and I got to spend more time out in the yard playing with her.  I ate a huge dinner, including pickles!  I took a bath and went to bed around 7:45.

Mom woke me up at 6:00 am on Tuesday and got me ready for school.  We had a pleasant good-bye at school.  My big discovery for the day was the chalk, which I really enjoyed playing with.  We had a rough evening, including a lot of screaming in the car and then my complete refusal to eat dinner.  Of course, I welcomed the blueberries Mom finally offered.  My bad mood made everything take longer, so I didn’t get to bed until after 8:00.

On WednesdayI woke up around 6:45 and read lots of books with Julie until Nana got home.  It was a beautiful day, so Nana and I got outside right away.  First we went to the yard and watered the plants and had cereal and milk for a snack.  I had a turkey burger and baked apples for lunch, which I loved.  Rachel came after my nap and got me fed and ready for bed.  I didnt get to see either of my parents today!

Rachel woke up with me on Thursday and handed me off to Julie around 7:30.  Nana came at 9:00 and we went right outside, first to the park and then in the yard, where I had a snack of crackers and hummus.  Then, in a rare move, Nana took me down to the office to play!  She almost never takes me downstairs!  While we were down there, Nana did my laundry (thank you!) and we played.  Julie came and took over after my nap.  We played, ate, and then she got me to bed, so another day that I didn’t get to see Mom or Dad!  Where are you, guys!?

Mom woke up with me on Friday and I immediate woke up Dad.  After breakfast, I went with Mom to a short doctor’s appointment.  I was very good while Mom was busy and then we headed back home.  Mom let me watch some Sesame Street and I had fun hanging out with her all morning.  Dad came upstairs while I had lunch and then Mom put me down for my nap.  When I got up, Mom and I went to pick up her dry cleaning from the Bannans (long story).  While we were there, I played with Elizabeth and Maggie (!) who were so nice to me.  I really enjoyed hanging out with them!  Dad got home while I was eating dinner and gave me lots and lots of kisses before putting me to bed.

On Saturday, I got up with Dad and we went on our usual grocery trip.  It was an especially fun trip, as I was in a great mood and the weather was perfect.  Dad even bought me a new placemat!  We got back, unloaded the groceries, and picked up Mom to go to soccer practice.  It’s been about six weeks since I had a good practice, but this one was great — maybe because Mom was there!  I did really well and had a great time.

We got home and it was lunch time  and then nap time.  I slept until after 4:00!

Mom got me out of bed and we went downstairs and then out for a walk.  We stopped by Staples, where I picked out a folder for Mom to take to work.  Then we stopped by Oberweiss and Mom let me drink a whole lot of their shake.  I think I like this concept of sharing!

Dad carried me home, first on his back, then on his shoulders.  I helped him cook tacos and we waved bye-bye to Mom as she left for work.  I had a pretty good dinner; I love tacos!

Then I played with Dad and read a couple books before falling asleep.

I woke up a bit earlier than Dad would have liked on Sunday.  I sat on his bed while he was still snuggled under the covers for a few minutes.  I took a shower and then got dressed.  We went downstairs and read Baby Animals twice before getting ready for breakfast.  I thought I was going to have the same old usual breakfast, but instead, Dad made my baby waffles, which I loved!  I ate six of them with my scrambled egg…and still wanted more after I was done!

Dad and I spent a couple hours hanging out and playing, including a visit down to the office, which I always love.  We invited Nana to join us on our errands this morning.  We stopped by Fedex Office on our way to Nana’s.  Then Dad made a bunch of stops while Nana and I hung out in the car, reading Tolene.  We had a treat at Starbucks and then had lunch at Potbelly’s.  I think this is the first time I sat in a regular booster seat that wasn’t even strapped to the chair.  Other than almost falling off a couple times, I did great.  Nana shared her soup and Dad shared his sandwich and the nice man who made our food gave me a free cookie!

I didn’t get to my nap until 2:00, but I fell asleep right away.  I slept until 4:00 and when I got up, I pretended like I wanted to go back to sleep, so Dad let me get in his bed, but I only pretended to sleep for a few seconds before getting up.

I was happy to drink most of “Daddy’s water” though.  Dad and I put away some laundry and talked to Mom on the phone.  While Dad was talking to Mom, I started jumping off the ottoman!  Dad was laughing too hard to stop me, but Mom didn’t seem to think it was very funny.  Come on, Mom!  Jump with me!

Then we went downstairs and it was too late to go to the park, so we played a bit and then started cooking our traditional Sunday night dinner.  I made the hummus almost entirely by myself and helped with the fish and carrots.  I didn’t eat that well at all and even rejected the Cheese Game for the first time ever.  I ate  a ton of blueberries, though, so that was good.  Dad tricked me in to trying on a green tee-shirt before going down to the office.

Dad let me walk upstairs by myself (and behind) him. When I got up to the second-to-last step I started to turn around and I almost fell all the way down the stairs. Dad paused and then lunged at me and pulled me up the last step by my shirt. He seemed really upset that I wasn’t holding the rail! I said I was sorry and we headed upstairs to sleep.

Last year I had my first picnic!

Getting my own green thumb!

4/5-4/11: Happy Birthday Daddy!

My helmet's debut!

I slept in until 7:00 and was happy to see Julie come get me up.  I totally rejected breakfast but was happy when Julie took me out to play in our yard.  Nana came at 9:00 and I was realliy hungry, so she let me wat a big bowl of cereal and blueberries.  As soon as I finished, we packed up and went to the park. I even reminded Nana to take her coffee! I played on the slides and on the swings, but I was especially happy to feed the birds.  When we got home, Nana prepared a picnic lunch for me, which I enjoyed eating out in the yard.  I think I’m really going to like spring and summer!  We read four books before I went to bed around 1:30.  We capped off a great day with another trip to the park.  Mom got home around 6 and instead of eating my dinner, I ate half of Mom’s sloppy joe!

My schedule was a bit differnet this week, as I went to school on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.  I was in my new room, of course, and did really well both days.  I especially loved the matching animals puzzle and the bingo markers I found.  On Wednesday I discovered the glue stick!  I think I can have a lot of fun with that in my new room.

Thursday was a fun day, too.  After breakfast and fun with Julie, Nana came around 9:00 bearing arms full of new clothes for me!  It was really cold outside (what’s up with that?) but we bundled up and went out to the park anyway.  Apparently, no one else was that bold, as we were the only people in the whole park.  When we got back, Aunt Claire was home!  Nana made me lunch and after I ate I took my nap.  I woke up still in a great mood and we had fun the rest of the day.  I got pretty distracted putting on and taking off a new pair of orange striped shorts!  Dad got home right before bed and gave me a week’s worth of kisses.

I woke up with Dad and Julie played with me until Nana came around 9:00.  It was a much nicer day today and we had a fun 2-hour outing to the park.  We had a picnic lunch (which Dad stopped by to visit!) and then went to bed.  When I woke up from my nap, Grandpa Yagan was here and we played all kinds of fun games until Mom got home.  We ate a fun meal and then went to sleep.

Saturday morning was Dad’s birthday!  Mom was up early and eveyrone was in such a great mood!  We celebrated by going on our usual grocery store run.  It was also my first practice of the new soccer season.  I’m in a new class, in a new location, with a new coach.  It’s all professional-feeling, with fake grass and everything.  It got off to a good start (I hugged one of my teammates!) but I had a complete meltdown and spent most of practice crying in Dad’s arms.  It wasn’t fun at all.

I got home and had lunch with Aunt Claire.  After my nap, A/C and Mom were both home and we had fun playing together.  Dad got home and then he and Mom went to dinner to celebrate his birthday while I stayed home with A/C.

Sunday morning was fun, as Dad and Aunt Claire were both playing with me.  Aunt Claire took me on a walk to Starbucks and Bagel on Damen, where I got a deviled egg (yum!).  After lots of quality time with Aunt Claire I ate lunch and then took a nap.  When I got up, Dad and I cooked our usual Sunday dinner.  Mom was a bit late (giving A/C a ride to the airport) but got back in time to eat with us.  After eating a lot of blueberries, Dad took me upstairs and put me to bed.

Last year, we retired my jumperoo!

Mmmm, picnic!

3/29-4/4: On the Hunt

Nice try, Bunny!

Monday was a pretty fun day with Nana, especially because we got to spend some quality time outside.  In fact, we were just getting home from a walk when Mom got home from work around 6:00.  It was a bit chilly, so I was glad to be home (and to see Mom!).  Ate fish, chicken, and asparagus before getting in a good 15 minutes of potty time and then going to bed.

I woke up early on Tuesday morning (5:40!) and hung out with Mom while she got ready for work.  I ate “Nana’s cereal” with blueberries and milk before taking off for school.  We had a pretty smooth drop off because I decided to “go lay down” to collect myself when Mom left.  I had a great time in the new 2’s room.  The transition is going really smoothly and I can’t wait until I’m doing full days in there!  The ride home was prety bad, which put me in bad mood for dinner and I ended up not eating too much.  I took a bath, got lotioned up, had Mom cut my toenails and then rocked and sang for longer than usual before finally getting to bed around 8.

On Wednesday I woke up with Julie and ate some cereal before getting our day started.  I was a little fussy with Nana, but a walk to the park and two hours of playing outside put me in a much better mood.  I had an okay lunch and took a nice long nap from 1:30 to 4:00.  I did some happy potty time before we went back to the park for our second trip of the day!  Mom got home around 6:15.  I didn’t eat much for dinner, but had good potty time, including dumping my gas into the toilet and flushing it away!

I was hoping that by Thursday I’d have kicked my cough and runny nose, but not just yet!  I might even have woken up with a bit of a fever.  Well, it’s official: I’m in the 2’s room at school!  I moved my cubby and said goodbye to all my old friends.  I enjoyed playing with all the new things in the new room, especially puzzles, books, and playing in the sandbox!  We had a pretty smooth ride home and a much better dinner than we’ve had most of this week.

I woke up with Dad on Friday and he brought me downstairs to play with Julie!   It took me quite a while to eat, but I finally got my egg and oatmeal down.  I had a fun day with Nana in the morning and then Grandma Droste in the afternoon.  Mom got home around 6:00 and Dad came home just after Mom did.  I was so happy to see them, but that didn’t make me eat a better dinner!

On Satruday, I was so excited to see Grandma Droste!  Yay!  Grandma joined us on our traditional grocery store trip and then she was nice enough to take me to the Nature Museum, which I loved!   Grandma fed me lunch and got me ready for bed.  When I woke up, Mom was here, too, and we all had fun until Dad came home.

On Sunday, Mom, Grandma Droste, and I all went out and planted flowers in our yard. The yard looks so nice — and I get to enjoy the most because I spend the most time in our yard!  Then, Nana and Grandpa came over for my first Easter Egg Hunt and then brunch.  Either the Easter Bunny isn’t very good at hiding his eggs or I’m a very good egg hunter, because I found all of them!

I was especially happy to see that his eggs have yummy treats in them.  After we ate and played for a while, it was time for bed.  I took a good nap and then went to the park.

When we got back, we made our usual Sunday dinner and then went to bed!

Last year, I ate a whole banana all by myself!

Sliding away!
