9/7: Owwwwwwwwwww, My Head!

Check out the bump on my head!

I didn’t realize that today was a holiday, so I was really surprised when Dad came to get me out of my crib.  After I changed, we went downstairs to play.  Since we were trying to be extra quiet so as not to wake Mom up, we went down to the office and listened to an Elmo song.  I was sitting at Mom’s desk when Elmo came on.  I got so excited that I started flailing my arms and my head until – WHACK! – I slammed my head right into the edge of the desk!

Oh man, that hurt really bad.  I cried instantly.  Dad held me and kissed me a million times but it didn’t help (much).  He took me upstairs and got an ice pack and then had to restrain me while he applied it to my head.  Needless to say, Mom didn’t stay asleep for long!  She came downstairs and was really worried about me.  She held me while Dad held the ice pack.  I look good in purple, no?

I barely got through breakfast and I was in some pain for the rest of the morning, but mostly I was back to normal pretty quickly.  Mom and Dad spent the day moving their stuff back into the room after getting it painted (yes, they chose that color green!).  We played hide and seek and I helped clean off a few shelves.  Finally Mom and I took naps after lunch and Dad went to the grocery store (I skipped this week’s trip due to my injury!).

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful.  We all had dinner together and then it was bed time!

A year ago I was spitting up like crazy.

9/6: Leaving Already?

Drillin’ with Grandpa Droste

I got up on Sunday at Aunt Sarah’s and had another really fun day.  Everyone was really busy agian, but I spent a bunch of time with everyone.  Just like at home, I really like “helping” — yesterday it was with Aunt Sarah’s pond; today it was with the TV mount and the floors.

I’ve been getting to spend a lot of quality time with Grandma Droste, which has been great.  After dinner, Mom and Dad packed me up into our car and we headed home.  I fell asleep pretty quickly and the next thing I knew Mom was carrying me up the stairs and putting me to bed in my crib.

A year ago I had my first solid food — can you believe it!?

9/5: Hello, Lexington!

Sippin’ with Grandma Droste

I woke up on Saturday in my Pack n’ Play in a strange room I’d never seen before.  I peeked out and saw Mom and Dad in a bed just a few feet away.  Mom got up with me and I figured out I was at Aunt Sarah’s house!  We went out into the living room and I saw Aunt Sarah & Grandma Droste.  Eventually, Grandpa Droste and Dustin joined us, too.

Aunt Sarah just bought a new house and we were helping her move in!Everyone was really busy today, but I got to hang out with everyone.  I especially got a lot of time in out in Aunt Sarah’s really big yard.

As you can see, they also put me to work:

Aunt Sarah has a way bigger yard than we do!

9/2-9/4: Counting to 10!

Itsy-bitsy…blackberry?

Wednesday morning was another day at home.  Lots of TLC from Nana and I ended up feeling much better.  By dinner time, I was totally counting to ten:

On Thursday I was up with Mom (and Dad!).  We got ready and headed out to school.  I said good-bye to Mom without much fanfare.  I had another really good day at school.  Porter (the kid who shoved me to the ground on my first day at school!) is back from his summer vacation.  Traffic was terrible on the way home — we even got stuck (or “cuck”) behind a train.

Grandpa Yagan joined us for dinner and then we played Legos until bedtime:

My room is a total mess because Mom and Dad are painting their room and moved all their stuff into my closet and onto my floor!

Friday morning was just pure chaos.  I got up really early with Dad.  I helped him cook breakfast (an egg!) and then I had spinach-oatmeal-O’s cereal.  Nana got over to house and we went right outside to play.  The painters were back to our house today so it was really loud and crazy.  I was also on a strange schedule — I skipped my morning nap.  In fact, by 1:00 I still hadn’t slept!  As soon as the painters left (a little after 2:00), Mom, Dad, and I hopped in to our car and we drove to Aunt Sarah’s in Lexington!

Around 7:00 we tried to stop for dinner.  First we tried Cracker Barrel, but the wait was 20 minutes.  Then we tried Bob Evans, and there was a wait just to find out the wait!  Finally we stopped at Steak & Shake — which made me think of great-grandpa Harris!  A couple hours later I barely woke up as Mom moved me from my carseat to my makeshift bed in the play yard.

A year ago, it was getting cold!

8/31-9/1: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

A little extra relaxation

I got up on Monday with Dad.  I still had a runny nose, but I was in a very good mood by the time Nana came over.  After I finished eating, Nana and I went for a very long long, including a visit to the park.  I was being especially talkative and when I got back home I had a pretty good snack: a slice of cheese, a whole peach, and milk.  With all that yumminess in my tummy, I slept for almost two hours.

I woke up in a great mood and ate a decent lunch, except I totally rejected the tomatoes and red peppers.  We read a few books, finger painted, and made our second trip out to the park.  After my nap, Mom was home and we helped Dad get ready for his reception.

The big news was that during dinner, I helped Mom count from 8 through 12!  When it was time for bed, Mom got my humidifier out and I fell asleep!

On Tuesday, Nana was nice enough to spend the day with me and give me a day off from school.  I ate a decent breakfast and of course headed right out to the park.  I was pretty congested so I wasn’t at my best.  I was pretty partial to swinging, which is unusual.  I didn’t have a great lunch, either.  Our afternoon was pretty low-key, with lots of nose-wiping.

Mom got home around 5:30.  For some reason, I decided to put Mom’s dirty underwear around my head.  I had a pretty bad dinner thta included throwing food on the floor.

Snack time!

8/30: A New Park

Sorry, Mom made me wear it! :)

I woke up this morning and I can tell that I’m starting to get sick.   I hope it’s not as bad as last time — but maybe I’ll get to skip school this week!  After breakfast, Mom and I went for a walk to the farmers’ market and the park.  Dad was going to buy a treadmill and so he joined us after a little while.

Mom made her delicacy: guacamole.  Dad was practically giddy about it, but I wasn’t too impressed at all.  After lunch, we drove across the city to buy a couple remnant area rugs.  I reaaaaaaaaaly like them, especially the big blue one!

Before dinner we went to a new park at Columbus School Campus.  It was pretty nice, but seems to be geared for bigger kids.  In other words, there were lots of ways I could have hurt myself!  The slide was ridiculously steep.

We finally headed back home, ate dinner, and went to bed!

Last year I was having quality time with Aunt Sarah!

I love our new rug!

8/29: Grandpa-pa!

I love legos!

Saturday started off pretty normally, when Dad and I went to Dominick’s on our weekly grocery trip.  Dad let me ride in big red plastic card tied to the front of his shopping cart.  We didn’t get much, which was strange.  We stopped by the house and Mom hopped in the car and the three of us went to Whole Foods.  Dad and I go all the time, but Mom’s never been!  So, I showed her all around and she really liked it.

After I got back and napped, we went out to the yard to play.  All of sudden, the Milones stopped by with their dog, Watson.  We hung out and I got to play with Watson — a special treat since I love dogs so much.

But even more fun than that, Grand-pa-pa Yagan was back from his trip to Syria and he came to visit us for dinner. I hadn’t seen him in about six weeks and was so happy to greet him when he came in the door. I think he was afraid I would forget who he was, but I didn’t! He brought me a gift: my first set of Lego’s! The two of us played together for a really long time before dinner. It was so cool to get some quality time. I already learned all the colors of my Lego set and even figured out how to pull pieces apart. Here’s proof:

Let me out!

8/27-8/28: I’m Havin’ It?

New football. Go Bears!

Thursday was a pretty usual day.  Up in the morning with Mom and off to school, except that we were running late and the traffic just made things worse!  In fact, we were running so late that Mom got me breakfast from McDonald’s (Dad!!!) because she was afraid I’d miss it at school.  I loved the pancake (as usual) but hated the egg (unusual).  We made it in time to eat a second breakfast at school, and I barely even said good-bye to Mom when she left!

I had a really good day at school, especially exploring the “large motor room” — couldn’t they find a more fun name for that?  Anyway, that’s the room we go when it’s not nice enough to go outside and play.  I was the last kid to get picked up at school when Mom came to get me.

When we pulled around the house, I was elated to see Dad in the street!  He hopped in the car and we screamed at each other and he kissed me a thousand times.  We dropped him off moments later, though, at his fantasy football draft.  I totally protested against dinner, but I drank a ton of milk to make up for it.

Friday morning I woke up with Dad.  Nana came by at 8:00 and we went right outside to see the birds, squirrels, and fire hydrants.  We came back home and I was in a better mood and finished up the breakfast I started before Nana came.  After breakfast we went for a long walk.  Everything was wet because it rained last night.  We couldn’t play much on the equipment, so instead we hung out at the dog run and watched all the dogs play.

I got home, took my nap, and then ate lunch.  Mom came up around 1:00 and Nana went home.  We had a fun time playing the rest of the day.  Eventually Dad came and joined us for a walk outside before dinner and bedtime.

Two-timing waffles!

8/25-8/26: Tripping Over Elmo (Literally)

Who says I’m not girly?

Mom and I got started a little late on Tuesday morning.  I wasn’t really in the mood to get dressed or to go to school, for that matter.  Once we got on our way, though, I was fine.  Mom and I had an easy good-bye when she dropped me off at school.  During outdoor playtime, I taught my duck how to go down the slide!  I also might have a new favorite band: The Beach Boys!  I was definitely strutting my stuff.  Mom picked me up at school around 5:10, while I was eating crackers.  The ride home was a bit fussy, but I ate a pretty good dinner to make up for it.

I was excited to see Mom’s and Dad’s friend Bridget here when I got home.  We played together, but I ended up having to go sleep early (7:15) so they could hang out.  What? I can’t hang out with you guys?

Wednesday was a rainy, gloomy day, which is a bummer because Nana and I always have so much fun outside!  I was a bit fussy in the morning, but all-in-all not to obad.  Nana made me a fresh scrambled egg for breakfast, which I devoured, along with fruity oatmeal and milk.  I was really excited to get to show off my new Elmos, as I call my slippers.  I’m still not totally adept at walking with them, especially on the two kitchen stairs.    Nana was so worried about me that she blockaded the stairs with my play yard and two chairs!

I took a relatively short nap and woke up still looking kind of tired.  I ate a pretty good lunch (kibbeh!) and then had a great afternoon of fun.  I rejeted my afternoon snack of fruity-veggie yogurt (DAD!), but I finally gave in to the offer of a cheese stick and some apple.  The rest of the day was pretty unevenful; it was fun to see Mom when she got home, as always!

Last year I put my foot in my mouth!

Check out my Elmos!

8/24: Squirrels Are So Cool!

“huh-vuh” finger paint!

I got up this morning and got ready with Mom until Nana got here.  I was slightly fussy this morning, so Nana took me for a very rare pre-breakfast walk from 6:30 to 7:00.  I had cream of wheat for breakfast but didn’t like the big hunks of strawberries.  I drank a bunch of millk and Nana even gave me a bite of her muffin!  After breakfast we went right back outside and spent a couple hours in the park.  I was fine, but not my usual chipper self.   I’ve become totally fascinated with squirrels, by the way.  I learned that they have long tails and climb up trees!  Pretty cool!

When we got back home I had a little snack (banana, O’s, & cheese) and took a nice long nap.  I didn’t eat much lunch, especially not the lentil burger.  We didn’t do much reading in the afternoon, but we did a lot of finger painting.  It took me quite a while to fall asleep for my nap — it might not be too long before I’m a one-nap toddler!  Dinner was unevenftul and I was in bed by 7:40.

Last year I was hanging out with Bridget & Aimee

Just chillin’
