5/12: Bourbonnais, Take II

SO MANY TOYS!!

Today was quite unusual, especially for a weekday.  I got up with Mom and she hung out with me until Dad got up and dressed.  I played with Dad until breakfast, when he made the mistake of  having his bowl of cereal while he tried to feed me.  I threw a fit until he let me try his food and then I threw a fit because I wanted to eat his oh-so-sweet goodness!  Nana came around 8:00 and Dad went down to the office to work.  Nana and I went right out to the park for an hour of fun before coming back and reading a bunch of books.

Oh, before I forget, here are my favorite pictures from April:

Around 10:00 — my usual nap time — Nana and Dad loaded up the car, put me in my car seat (with a pacifier and Puppy) and off we went.  I fell asleep, of course, but when I woke up we were in Bourbonnais at Nana’s and Grandpa’s house — where I have only been one other time.

A nice family is moving into their house this weekend and we went to grab a few of our things.  I was in luck, because instead of finding an empty house, the new family had already started moving in.  And man, do they have some fun stuff!

Dad’s old bedroom has been turned into a veritable fun room, with a huge princess-tent in the middle.  And everything was pink!  I even got to have a picnic in the front yard — it’s amazing how quiet it is and how loud the chirping birds are.

We left just in time for me to fall asleep on the ride home.  When we got back, Nana took me out to the park for a quick evening workout.  Mom was home when we got back and she fed me dinner (while Dad interrupted trying to kiss me — I had to put an end to that!).   Dinner ended when I threw food on the floor, but the fun resumed with farm-playing, book-reading, and ball-throwing.  I bit the ball a couple times (hey, better than Dad’s leg!) and before long it was bath time (three days in a row — what gives?) and then bed time!

5/11: I’m 14!

Being silly with my head down…

Mom came to get me  when I got up in the morning and I hung out with her while she got ready for work and while Dad took his shower.  Mom, Dad, and I went downstairs together and Dad helped Mom load her stuff into the cab that was waiting for her.  I played with Dad until breakfast, which went really fast.  I ate almost all of my oatmeal, my prunes, and my entire egg.

Nana came over just as we were finishing up and Dad went down to the office.  As soon as Nana got settled in, we left for the park, spending a good hour outside.  We read some books and then I helped Nana change my dirty diaper before my nap, which is now regularly starting at 10:00.

I woke up in a great mood, evidenced by the fact that I willingly ate two fish sticks for lunch!  I even drank a big cup of milk, ate a pile of root veggies, and cleaned up the succotash that was left over from yesterday.  Hey, I burned a lot of calories in the park!

The fun continued after lunch as I honed my basketball skills.  I can now dunk the big pink ball in my pack-n-play.  It’s not easy!  I had a good snack at 3:00 and then took my afternoon nap.

I woke up a bit cranky, but Dad and I went for a walk (to the bank and post office) that included a brief stop in the park.  It was really hopping, with a group of kids there for a park district event.  We got back well past my usual dinner time and I was so hungry! I ate all of my hidden veggie sauce (with some bread), a bowl of corn and salmon chowder, the oatmeal I didn’t finish at breakfast, and a bunch of strawberries!

I cleaned up my toys (well, I mostly put away the books while Dad put away the toys) and then Dad gave me a bath — even though I had one yesterday.  He must be trying to impress Mom.

5/10: Happy Mother’s Day!

OMG!

First of all,  happy mother’s day to  Mom, Grandma Droste, Nana Yagan, and Great Grandma Droste!

I got up this morning and Dad made a point to get me before I babbled too much so that Mom could sleep in.  I hadn’t even bothered to stand up yet, I was still rolling around in my crib when Dad came in.  He kept shushing me and then he whisked me downstairs, got my shoes and jacket on, and off we went to Dominick’s.

Dad let me roam in the produce department like he did last week.  I had a lot of fun with the “potato toppers” packages.  I think the entire store came to a halt when we checked out, as everyone watched me follow Dad’s request to touch  my ear, my nose, my belly, etc.  We got home a bit late for breakfast and Mom got up pretty much as soon as we got in.  I ate, played, and napped at 10:00.

When I got up, Mom dressed me up in a dress Nana and  Grandpa Yagan got me for my birthday and off we went to Nana’s to have Mother’s Day lunch.  We all had a great time — the only bummer was that we forgot the battery for our camera, so we don’t have any pictures to share.  The food was good (I got to eat everything they ate!) and everyone was in a great mood so it was a lot of fun.

We left in time to get home for my snack and nap.  I ate a ton (cheese, yogurt, carrots) and then slept for about 2 hours!  I got up and Mom was excited to go for a walk, but we were all surprised at how cold it was!  I was wearing a sleeveless dress.  Then Mom put pants under my dress.  Then Mom decided I needed a long sleeve shirt.  Then Mom decided I needed a jacket.  Then Mom decided I needed a winter hat!  Getting dressed took forever.

The park was hopping, though, and I played for a while before we had to get back home for dinner, bath, and bedtime!

A year ago today I got the cookbook that would decide my diet for months!

Check it out!

5/9: Brownies!

And Dad says he never lets me eat sugar!?

Today was a strange Saturday — much like last week.  Instead of Dad getting me out of my crib, Mom did.  And it seemed like a weekday as she got in the shower, got dressed, and took off.  She played with me and read some books before she left me with Dad.

Dad and I came downstairs and played until breakfast time, which I devoured in no time.  As usual, Dad goes stir crazy when it’s just us, so we got of the house by 8:30.  It was so cold outside!  We bundled up and were just about the only people in the park.  It got pretty windy, so we went to — where else — Starbucks!  Dad got his drink and then we headed home.  We played down in the office until 10:00 and then I took my nap.

I slept until 12:00 and then ate lunch.  I ate a ton — including all of the leftovers from yesterday and half a zucchini.  We played and read until 2:30.  Dad was impressed that I now help with the diaper changing process.  I get the clean diaper, the changing pad, and the wipes.  And then I put them all away when we’re done (except for the wet diaper!).  Nana taught me all this!

At 2:30, I helped Dad make brownies.  I sat so still and didn’t even stick my hands in the batter, even though it was sooo tempting.  As a reward for my help, Dad let me lick the batter off the mixer!  Mom got home around 2:40 and we played until snack time.

I demonstrated my tremendous fork skills and really impressed Dad, who hadn’t seen any of the warm-up acts this week.  Dad put me to bed for my nap.  When I got up Mom was so excited to play with me.  We had all kinds of fun, but it was too cold to go outside.

Dinner was kind of rough, as I ended up getting in trouble for throwing food on the floor!  After Mom pretended to be mad at me for 5-10 minutes, we played on my mat and had fun.  I even started learning new tricks with my big pink ball.

5/8: It’s Still Cold!

Finger…popsicles?

I was in a great mood again today.  I ate my standard breakfast (fruity oatmeal & prunes) with hard-boiled egg.  It was good and I didn’t throw any food on the floor.

I took a short nap (9:45 to 10:30) and was back at it.  I had a meatball, quesadilla, and bunch of veggies for lunch.  We played more, but it was a bit chilly outside.  I took a longer nap in the afternoon (3:40 to 5:15) and soon after I got up, Mom was home.  I had fun playing with her — we even played down in the office, which is very rare for Mom to do.  Dad got home and joined the fun and gave me a bath.

For those of you waiting for videos, here are a few from the week:

5/7: Ok, I’ll Stop Throwing Food!

Heading off to college!

Today was one of those awesome, fun days.  No particular events to report but just a lot of fun.  I turned the house upside down getting out toys and books but Nana just played along with me!  I didn’t throw any food, either!

Last year, Mom had to cut me out of my clothes!

Stroller revenge!

5/6: Apparently, Throwing Food Isn’t Cool

Rare profile shot

I had a very messy breakfast this morning, and I can tell that Nana is losing patience with my throwing food on the floor.  Mom and Dad (especially Mom) have started getting really strict with me, too.  I think this game might be almost over.

I behaved a lot better at lunch.  The salmon chowder was really yummy and peas are always good, too.  I had yogurt and and root veggies (appetizing, no?) for snack and then hopped in bed.

Mom was so late getting home!  I only got to see her for a little bit before going to sleep.  I went back to my food-throwing tantrum.  And Mom just canceled dinner!!  I couldn’t believe it!  I went to bed so hungry!

In other news, I have 11 teeth now.  Maybe instead of throwing food, I’ll start biting people!

5/5: Cinco de Mayo!

Napping in the yard…

I was in a great mood from the very start today.  I devoured my oatmeal, prunes and cereal in the morning.  Nana and I went right into the yard after eating — she even brought out her decaf coffee and had a fun time with me.   I also got to see my first cousin (once removed), Richard — he’s so nice.

I took a nap (inside!) and woke even happier– smiling and laughing!  Lunch was great, especially the huge pile of strawberries Nana gave me.  After I got done eating, we went to the park and I went crazy running all around.  The only bummer was that the dog run didn’t have a single dog in it.  We got home in time for my snack and then my second nap.

I started saying “Nana” a lot — way more than I say “Mama” or “Dada.”  I also say “arf” for dog!

I was laying in the grass last year, too!

My slide rocks.

5/4: I Love This Weather

A pensive breakfast.

My morning started out like a usual Monday.  Mom was off to work and Dad was working from home. We played together and he got me breakfast.  Right after I finished eating, Nana got here for the day.  I was in a great mood and we had a fun time.  I had more kibbeh for lunch, with plenty of yogurt and some peas, zucchini, and strawberries — three of my favorites.

Nana and I spent an hour in the park together before my snack and nap.  When I woke up, Dad was there to get me.  We went for a walk to Staples, where he had to buy a printer for work.  He let me run around the store, and I discovered DVD-R’s.  I think I could be a sales associate!

Mom picked us up at Staples because the printer was pretty big and bulky.  By the time we got home it was late for dinner, but I ate, got bath and got to sleep on time.

A year ago Dad used me as a prop!

5/3: Looking Girly in My Spring Dress

Mom loves hugs!

Dad and I made up for not going to the grocery store yesterday by going first thing in the morning.  We had fun, as usual.  For the first time ever, Dad let me get out of the cart and explore Dominick’s on foot!  In the pasta aisle, I knocked over a few boxes that looked interesting.  I even helped Dad by pulling out the one he wanted and putting it in the cart (he had to lift me up, though).

We got home and I ate breakfast with Mom.  I played with Dad while Mom got some work done.  After my nap, Dad and I went over to Nana’s and Grandpa’s for lunch.  Nana always has new yummy foods for me to try.  Today it was kibbeh!

We got home just in time for my afternoon nap.  When I got up, Mom stopped working and played with me and Dad.  We went for a walk to the park and I got to play outside.  I ate, played some more, and then went to bed!

A year ago, Dad learned the perils of overfeeding me!

I’m pretty sure I got this look from Dad.
