5/2: Emergency Bath!

Messy Veggie Sauce

Today was a very unusual Saturday!  It started out strange when Mom came to get me in the morning — and she started getting dressed as if it were a weekday.  Then she waved goodbye and took off.  I got ready with Dad, but instead of jetting out to Dominick’s like usual, we just played around upstairs and then casually came down for breakfast.

After I ate, we went for a really, really long walk.  We stopped by Bank of America, Jewel (just for a couple things), the park, and Starbucks.  We were out so long that I didn’t get down for my nap until after 10:00!

I had a late lunch, after which we went played, first inside and then out in the yard.  I had my snack and then took my afternoon nap back on schedule.  I was happy to see Mom back when I got up.  We all played together and then before long it was time for a bath and then bed!

When do I get a “girls’ night out?

I’m out of control!

5/1: Bring It On, Peanuts!

Catching up on the blog…

I had a good breakfast this morning and was excited to spend another day with Nana.  When I got up from my morning nap, I was surprised to see Grandpa Yagan here!  He hasn’t been over that much since his surgery in January.   He really enjoyed getting to feed me and playing with me — he even took me to the park (Nana met us there!).

We got back in time for my snack and nap.  When Mom got home I got to eat peanut butter for the first time ever!  Some people are very allergic to peanuts, but I seem to be doing fine so far!  Dad got home around 7:00 and we played until he put me to bed!

When do I get sushi again?

Tell him I can feed myself now!

4/30: Purr = More

Listen, Farmer!

We were having a pretty uneventful day until lunch time, which contained some of my least favorite foods.  Veggie fritters?  I mean really.  Would you like to eat julienned sweet potatoes and zucchini pan-fried in corn-meal?  Of course not.  And man, I’ve been eating this parsnip dish for months.  Who could have possibly thought it was a good idea to make so much in the first place?

We did a LOT of reading this afternoon.  We went through the stash of about  a dozen books we keep downstairs and we ready each of them at least twice.    Since I didn’t eat much for lunch, I got hungry for my snack a bit earlier than usual.  The menu was much more to my liking: O’s, milk, bananas, strawberries, and cheese.  YUM.

I’ve now started to say “purr” when I mean “more.”  I also like to read my ABC book while I’m standing up against our black couch.  I also understood my most complicated sentence ever today: “Go get the Elmo book and put it over there.”  Exciting, I know.

Dinner was also more difficult than usual, as I rejected all of the “baby” food that Mom put out for me.  I was more than happy to have a bit of her enchilada casserole, though.

And here’s proof that I’ve been sleeping “butt-up” forever!

Hike!

4/29: Bubble Bath = Yucky Bath

What’s so hidden about this veggie sauce?

My morning was fun-filled — lots of playing and reading.  I took a good long nap from 9:00 to 10:40.  Lunch was really long and messy but I ate a lot of really good food.  I did a lot of dancing and laughing throughout the afternoon until nap time.

After dinner with Mom, she tried to give me a bubble bath.  What’s wrong with my usual kind of bath!?  I definitely didn’t like all those bubble and gave Mom my class “stink-eye” glare to make sure she understood me!

Why was I wearing shoes last year?

Peek-a-boo, floor!

4/28: Bye-Bye Winter

Hey, Macarena!

I got up with Mom this morning and hung out with her while she got ready for work.  I’m very excited that Mom and Dad have hung up about six pictures of me on the wall in their bedroom!  What a great way to start by morning — seeing pictures of my favorite person!

I was really happy  to see Nana this morning.  I played really well and ate a good breakfast, but got tired a bit earlier than usual.  I fell asleep in no time after Nana put me down for my nap at 9.  I got up feeling much better.  We played and read quite a few books together.  Lunch was great (chicken, yogurt, mushrooms, peas, strawberries, and milk!).

In the afternoon, Nana taught me how to knock on a door with my knuckles.  That’ll come in handy someday!

Dinner included  Hidden Veggie Sauce, which I really like and fish sticks, which I really dislike.  I threw some food on the floor to express my displeasure — and got in big trouble with Mom.  But really, isn’t that something Dad would do!?

After dinner Mom and I played like we always do.  I decided it would be fun to put on my hat as a final good riddance to winter!

Last April 28th I set my all-time spit-up record!

Do you spork?

4/27: Who Needs Words When You Have Videos?

Fancy outfit, huh? The straw ties it all together.

So, I’ve fallen way behind on posting videos.  So, instead of all the usual blah, blah, blah, I thought I’d just put up a bunch of videos:

4/26: Straws!

How does this thing work?

Today was a pretty yucky day, so we mostly stayed in.  It was nice enough for a while to go out for a walk.  We went to Oberweis (of course) and K-Mart, where we bought a new drinking contraption.  It took me a while to figure it out.  I started out trying to blow as hard I could into the straw, but that didn’t get me any milk.  Finally I figured it out and was so happy!

I also helped Dad on a couple Maggie-proofing projects around the house.  I figured that being involved would help me figure out how to circumvent the systems.

Mom’s grass (in the yard) is growing much better than Dad’s grass (near the sidewalk).  Definitely makes playtime much prettier!

I did it!

4/25: Rain Falls on Heads

Mom “disciplining” me. Ha!

Today was a pretty run-of-the-mill Saturday at home, except that Dad was gone most of the day.  He and I made our weekly trip to Dominick’s, which was fun as usual.  We got back home in time to eat breakfast.  Then Dad took off to get our car fixed and stop by Nana’s and Grandpa’s house to pick up a couple things.  I had fun playing with Mom and then took my morning nap.

The big fiasco of the  day happened right as Dad was about to leave for Bourbonnais.  Mom and I were going to run to the post office and the park.  We hadn’t even gotten half way to the post office when, in Mom’s words “it rained on our heads!”  (Where else does it rain??)

It was raining pretty hard.  Rather than finding an awning or going into a building, Mom opened up her umbrella and squatted next to my stroller in the middle of the downpour!  Dad drove by and picked us up, but that was the end our time outside.  We played indoors the rest of the day.

Dad was running late, so Mom let me stay up past my bed time (and read me so many books) so that that Dad could give me a goodnight kiss, which he was so happy to do.

Last year on this date, A DOG LICKED MY FACE!

Snack time!

4/24: Still Not 100%

Yep, I’ve graduated to plates!

I was in a great mood this morning and ate my favorite breakfast: oatmeal, egg, prune, and milk.  We went outside right after breakfast and had a fun time in our yard.  Nana likes bringing her coffee out with us and I think she enjoys it, too!

I was a bit more clingy in the afternoon.  My system isn’t fully back to regular yet, so I think I was just feeling a bit fussier than usual.  I didn’t love lunch (mango chicken quesadilla), but the strawberries and Nana’s baked apples certainly did the trick.

After my second nap, we headed to the park as soon as I got up.  When we got back, I finally discovered that the door to the bathroom on the main floor doesn’t latch properly and I can push it all by myself!  So much for keeping me out now!

Parks seemed big and scary last year!

Basketball is so easy!

4/23: Two Hours in the Park

I could be my own statue!

I was in a great mood all day, and who wouldn’t be spending two hours of the day out in the park.  it was an awesome day.

My morning was uneventful (and, more importantly, couscous-less).  I could only eat the equivalent of one meatball, because the centers of the two meatballs were undercooked.  DAD!?

After lunch Nana and I celebrated the great weather with our longest trip yet to the park — two hours.  She took lots of pictures of me and is letting me have more freedom to roam around and explore.  I love being able to walk!

When Mom got home I was still in a great mood and I ate a pretty good dinner.  During bath time, I invented a new game: “Up, Down!”  That’s right, I lift a ball or other bath toy up over my head and say “Up!” and then put them down on the surface of the water and say “Down!”  Try it yourself — it’s addictive!

A year ago I was trapped in our little apartment!

Rolling around in my crib…
