1/15: 11 Seconds & Counting

Can I get a witness?!

Today was extremely unevenful except that I stood up for 11 seconds!   Also, Grandma Droste called and I talked to her on the phone.  I waved at her and blew kisses and even clapped my hands!

Hello, Maggie babbling.

1/14: Touchdown, Busy Kitties!

Yay lunch time!!

I woke up bright and early at 5:30 and had my bottle, as usual.  Mom worked from home today and I got to hang out with her until about 7:45 (while A/C went for a run on the treadmill).  After breakfast, I played with A/C in the living room and then took a pretty good nap from 8:30 to 9:40.

A/C was really nice and read Busy Kitties to me five times.  I really enjoyed lunch, especially because Mom and I kept making touchdown signals for no reason!  I got in another good nap in the afternoon and was in a pretty good mood until about 4:00 when i felt hot and I started getting crabby.  Mom took my temperature and I scored a 99.9%.  Oh, no, I had a 99.9 degree fever.  Well, technically not a fever, but Mom gave me Tylenol anyway.

I had dinner and hung out with A/C and Mom while they ate, then I turned in for the day.

Fist Food.

1/13: A No Good Very Bad Day

I love anything I can pull apart…

I got up and hung out with Mom and Dad while they got ready for work.  I threw a huge fit when Mom left for work and that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the day.  Dad gave me my bottle kind of late (7:00 am).  I was super-crabby with Dad and even crabbier when he left and handed me off to Aunt Claire.  I whined and cried about everything, even about nothing at all.

I was in a somewhat better mood after breakfast.  A/C was hopeful that my nap would get me all the way back to normal, but no.  When it was time for lunch, I kept pretending to gag on my barley & mushrooms.  When I didn’t gag, I just spit it out or blew the food at A/C’s face.  I have to admit that I loved the avocado & cream cheese, though.

The afternoon was a bit better, but it still dragged on.  I made A/C read me “Busy Kitties” eight times!  I think she almost went crazy.  In fact, Mom felt so bad for Aunt Claire, she came home with a skinny vanilla latte for Aunt Claire to try to make her day a little better!

Spoons for eating & spoons for playing!

1/12: Stand Up, Stand Up!

Bibs & birthcloths: emancipated!

I woke up today and for another day Dad was missing!  I had fun with Mom in the morning and then – surprise! – Dad showed up!  Mom took off for work and Dad and I hung out until Aunt Claire took over at 7:30.  I played with A/C all morning and finally learned how to a blow a kiss.  Dad was so excited to be the first recipient.  While Dad was upstairs for one of his little breaks, he and A/C tricked me into standing up — without holding on to anything — for a full two seconds in my pack n play.

I spent a lot of time reading with Aunt Claire.  My two favorite books are Baby Love and Busy Doggies.  I love reading!  In fact, if someone even says “Do you want to read a book?” I immediately start panting!

The most bizarre thing that happened today was that Aunt Claire gave me a maple flavored teething biscuit.  Huh?  Yeah, Mom, good idea and thanks and stuff, but the biscuit turns into a pretty nasty color and into a yucky consistency.  Just look at it…ewww!

I had a couple minor injuries today: I bumped my face on my box of noise makers and then bumped my head on a chair.  Whatever, I’m a tough a girl.  More than that, I shared the pain by bloodying A/C’s nose.  She said to me “Can you get my nose.”  Oh yeah, Aunt Claire, I got it.  Be careful what you ask for!

I didn’t like the confetti slaw nearly as much today, even pretending to gag on it.  Then A/C tricked me into eating it by alternating spoonfuls of it with spoonfuls of apples — my favorite!  Then, I stood up on my mat for 1…2…3…4…5 seconds!  It was so long that Aunt Claire and Dad turned and looked at each other — twice — in amazement before I fell on my backside.  Dad and A/C were so excited!  Dad even jumped up and down and all around.

When Mom came home with Grandpa’s car, Dad ran out to return it to him.  I think he had separation anxiety leaving me, because he knew I’d be asleep by the time he got back home.  I had a really fun time with Mom as she got me ready for bed.

Looks sooooooo appetizing! Want one?

1/11: Birthday X

I love being upside down!

Happy Birthday to me!  I’m ten months old and counting.  I had a bit of a rough night, waking up several times throughout the night.  I had breakfast at 8:00 and then we got our stuff packed up and made our second attempt at going to Whole Foods.  But, it was like deja vu all over again: the car wouldn’t start!  All three of us got really discouraged and frustrated.

I took a 40-minute nap, but I woke up just as crabby as I was before.  I had lunch and then took a longer nap in the afternoon.  At around 4:00, Grandpa Yagan came over to hang out with me and give Mom his car so that she could go to work tomorrow.  Mom took the car, dropped Grandpa off at his place, and went to the grocery store.  I hung out with A/C, had dinner, and read a lot of books!  Mom got back and put me to bed.

Interesting, Mom and Aunt Claire don’t make me crawl around the house chasing my bottle like Dad does!

Mom’s keys and A/C’s zipper…what else could I ask for?

1/10: Snowy Saturday with Mom & A/C

Yum.

I got up with Mom to see that it was snowing like crazy!  I played with Mom & Aunt Claire before taking a nice nap in the afternoon.  I had “confetti slaw” for lunch — a bizarre concoction of zucchini, apples, and red peppers — and I really liked it.  Dad wasn’t home today, but the three of us still decided to go grocery shopping and to Target.  Mom pulled the car out of the garage and pulled it up in front of the house.  When we made it out there…the car wouldn’t start!  I played by the window until AAA arrived.  Finally the car started…just in time for me to take my nap!  We went to Target around 4:00 and then we dropped A/C off at Maddi’s apartment (where they went to Ras Dashen for dinner).

Mom and I got home and we had dinner.  Mom gave me my bath, where I discovered that standing up isn’t allowed!  I ended up staying way past my bedtime (8:00 pm!) and went to sleep very easily.

Overalls are so cute!

1/9: Ice, Ice, Baby!

What can I say?

Mom got up super-early today to beat the blizzard (which never  came!).  While Mom was gone, A/C was upstairs in Mom’s bed on the ready in case I decided to wake up.  Mom was excited by the fact that she got home in time to get me dressed and gave me my bottle.

Mom was working from home today.  She started the day upstairs at the kitchen table, but there’s no way that I was going to let her just sit in the same room with me undistracted!  I played with my toys and in the jumperoo.  Every time Mom came upstairs to visit me, though, I screamed like crazy!  Dad comes and goes without much notice from me, but not Mom.

Mom came up to give me my lunch and ended up spilling ice water all over me.  It didn’t phase me one bit.  I was super-crabby in the afternoon.  After dinner Mom carried me (not in a bjorn or stroller!) over to Jerry’s to pick up dinner for her and A/C.  While they were eating I drank even more ice water — I love it!

My whole face fits in this glass…

1/8: No Nap, No Problem

Tasty blinds.

I spent much of the morning watching people out the window…oh, and sucking on the blinds cord.  I got to spend more time in the pack ‘n’ play, which is becoming more and more fun.  I totally skipped my morning nap, but made up for it while Grandma, A/C, and I went for a walk to Paper Doll. Our second stop was Milk & Honey, where I played with straws and even whacked A/C in the face with one.  There were two other babies there at M&H and it was really fun to smile at them and practice my wave.

I had another failed nap in the afternoon before saying goodbye to Grandma Droste, who went back home for a few days.  A/C let me spend a bunch of time in the afternoon and evening practicing my one-handed walking skills.  I’ll be standing in no time!

Pants: the perfect distraction.

1/7: “Can You Come Without the Sirens?”

I’m starting to like my pack ‘n’ play!

Well, the night was anything but normal.  At 2:00 am a crazy beeping sound goes off in our house.  I sleep through it, though, because I’m such a good sleeper.  Mom and Aunt Claire creep around the house on their tippy toes looking for the feared intruder and end up finding…each other.  Boo!

Mom discovers that it’s our carbon monoxide alarm and freaks out.  She calls the fire department and gets voice mail (!); her next call is 9-1-1 (!!).  The emergency team decides that they’re coming to our house.  Mom asks “can you come without the sirens?”  No way.  So, though I didn’t wake up the alarm, the flashing lights and blaring sirens did the trick — I was up.  Shockingly, there was no emergency and they left.  I pretended to have no interest in going to sleep, which meant that I got to sleep in bed with Mom.  Works every time!

I started eating beef today.  I think that gives me most of the common meats except for pork.  I played in my room with Grandma Droste so that A/C could “sleep in” until 7:30.  I spit up twice in the morning which is pretty unusual for me.  Then I took my morning nap.  Grandma Droste mixed my ground beef with the broccoli risotto and made little meat balls that I could eat with my fingers.

Throughout the afternoon I drank a lot of Grandma’s water and really for the first time started playing in my pack ‘n’ play.  I guess that’s what my new found mobility gets me!

Hey, who chose this picture for the blog?!?

1/6: Just an Ordinary Day

I’ll find that sock…eventually!

Today was a pretty uneventful day.  I really enjoyed watching it snow and am really looking forward to being able to go out and play in it!  I failed — twice — to nap this morning so Grandma finally gave in and slept with me in Mom’s and Dad’s bed.

I listened to lots of music today (and really love watching my Best of 2008 slide show!).  I took a good nap in the afternoon and played with Grandma & Aunt Claire.

Hey, it’s closet time
