2/7: A Super Sunday

Prepping the dill

I woke up this morning with Dad and we read some books before getting breakfast ready.  I ate all of my oatmeal but only ate half of my scambled eggs.  Dad and I cooked some food while Mom went to her pilates class.

As soon as Mom got back, we pretty much got ready to go have lunch at Nana’s and Grandpa’s.  Nana cooked some zucchini, which I really liked.  Grandpa also made me a whole bowl of strawberries for dessert, which I devoured.  After lunch all five of us hung out together and had a lot of  fun.

We got home around 2:00, which was pretty late for my nap.  When I got up, I had a hard time getting active and I ended up hanging out on the couch with Mom for a while.  I spent a while reading with Mom before helping Dad cook dinner (the usual salmon and carrots).  I didn’t eat too much and was surprised to get a new “medicine” delivered to me in a shot glass.  My parents think they have to trick me into drinking prune juice?  Ha!

After dinner I read books with Mom and Dad before heading to sleep!

Last year it felt like spring!

2/6: Meeting a Rock Star

Kicking is child's play!

Today was a pretty standard, except that I met a famous rock star!  I got up with Dad and after breakfast we went to all three grocery stores on our usual rotation.  We made it back home just in time to grab my soccer jersey and head right back out to soccer practice.  I did pretty well, except that I refused to get on the parachute again.

When I got home, I met Mom’s and Dad’s friend, Christian, who has his own Wikipedia page!  He and Dad grabbed some food and brought me a deviled egg!  After I got up, we dropped Mom off at Macy’s and went to Staples and Target.  At Target, I got new socks and some new paint!

When we got home it was pretty much time for dinner and then bed!

Last year I was mastering the two steps up to the kitchen.

Cone towers are, too

2/1-2/5: Welcome February!

OMG

I woke up Monday morning with Dad, which is pretty unusual.  Julie came around 7:30 and Dad took off to go speak at a conference.  Nana got here around 9:00 and we had a really good morning together.  Nana even brought me a special lunch, which was yummy.  I took a good, long, three-hour nap and before I knew it, Mom was home.  I greeted her very happily, but didn’t want to eat too much.  I was a bit uncomfortable, probably because I had some diaper issues.

I woke up a couple times overnight and got up really early (5:20!).  I was in a good mood while I got ready for school.  On the way to school, Mom played “1234” but it wasn’t the right version!  Where did the monsters and penguins go?

I had a great day at school and was especially goot at listening and exercising my imagination while we were reading books.  I was in the Large Motor Room when Mom came and I got to stay and play while Mom talked to Laurie about my moving up to the Twos room — with Emma!

On the way to Nana’a and Grandpa’s I discovered a new favorite song — in Italian!  It’s called Eh, Cumpari and you can listen to it here.  Be warned, you’ll fal in love.  I stayed with Nana and Pop while Mom went to a doctor’s appointment.    I was fussy when we got home and instead of taking a bath, I asked to take a shower.  Hey, I’m almost two, you know?

I woke up Wednesday morning with Julie and had fun until Nana came.    I was in a good mood except for a couple tough poops.  My Arabic is coming along really well, I can now say things like “cows give us milk!”

So, it turns out that when I went to Nana’s on Tuesday, I forgot Duck there!  So, when it was time to get ready for school Thursday morning, Duck was nowhere to be found.  Mom, being the pro that she is, immediately turned it into a special day — Minnie Mouse woudl get to go to school with me!  I really enjoyed showing Minnie off to al lmy friends.  I was really independent and kept myself busy today.

I woke up with Dad on Friday morning.  I took a shower with him and then ate breakfast before Mom came over.  I had a really fussy morning, but as usual Nana was very patient and worked so hard to keep me happy.  I ate kiwi and cereal and milk at 9:00.  I was very, very clingy with Dad.  Whenever he was around, I wanted him to pick me up and I would cry whenever he left.

After my nap, I hung out with Mom and we went to Bagel on Damen, where I was supposed to get a pickle, but they were out, so I got a deviled egg instead.  It was snowing pretty hard, but it was fun to down the block with Mom anyway.  Soon enough Dad got back from a meeting and then it was bed time!

Last year I said my first word; do you remember what it was?

Touchdown!

1/31: A Cold Sunday

Smoochie kiss for Mom!

I got up with Dad and we hung out as usual on Sunday morning.  I was definitely starting to feel better.   Dad and I gave Mom a ride to her pilates class and then I watched Dad get his haircut.  We had the whole place to ourselves, so after Dad was done I got to run around to play with varoius haircutting implements.  I can’t wait for my first haircut — next month!

We got back home and I took a shower with Dad before we went back out to pick Mom up from class.  The highlight of the afternoon was playing Brown Bear, Brown Bear:

Then I cooked dinner with Dad and went to bed.

Last year, I rejeted parsnips.

I miss you Grandma Droste!

1/30: Worst Soccer Practice Ever!

Yummy yogurt!

I woke up this morning with Dad (I just realized that he wasn’t around yesterday!) and we played in my bedroom until we headed downstairs.  I didn’t have any interest in helping Dad make my egg, but by the time he finished making it, I was happy to eat it.  I ate about half my oatmeal, but given the week I’ve had, this is closer to normal…but not quite there.

I was expecting us to run right out to the grocery store as usual, but we were moving a bit more slowly and soon Mom came downstairs to join us.  We read some books and before long it was time for soccer practice.  Dad stayed home to wait for a delivery and Mom took me to practice.  It was so cold outside that we drove (rare for Mom).  I had a terrible soccer practice.  I refused to do much (even my favorite red light, green light — until purple light, at which point I joined in) and even tried to run away a couple times.

We got home and i was pretty fussy.  Dad played with me until lunch time and then my nap.  When I got up, Dad and I went to Whole Foods, where I was happy to eat almost a half-pint of blueberries while we shopped.  I was still pretty fussy when I got home, demanding to eat a bunch of cheese and a bunch of yogurt, which Dad let me do.

Mom went to a benefit for a friend and Dad stayed with me.   We played in the office a bit, we played upstairs for a bit, and we read some books in the living room.  I struggled with dinner — I refused chana, pea burgers, and humus.  In fact, I think I’ll wake up very hungry tomorrow.

I cried a lot between the end of dinner and bed time.  At least I fell asleep right away!

1/27-29: My Recovery

Yummy cereal

Well, I thought I was out of the woods, but I was in a bad mood all morning.  Mom shared her cereal with me, which was very nice of her!  I napped for almost 4 hours and then Rachel was here to play with me.  I ate cereal, yogurt, and hummus and sang Farmer in the Dell three times!  Rachel even let me eat three pickle slices!

Mom got home and gave me a bath.  I had a rash all over, so Mom called Nana to make sure that I was ok.  When we came downstairs for Mom to call Nana, I decided to finish dinner!  Mom put me in bed at 7:30, but I didn’t fall asleep until 8:15.

Mom didn’t wake me up as she usually does on a school day so I got to sleep in until 6:40.  That means we were late heading out, but I felt a lot better.   I had a great day at school and it was fun to see all myu friends again.  I was especially active in the “large motor room” and was giving out lots and lots of hugs.  I was pretty grumpy on the way home because I was so tired.  When we got home, I just wanted to lay on the floor.  I ate pretty well (the pumpkin ravioli is delish!) and was in bed by 7:15.

I was up early on Friday (5:30) and didn’t want to back to sleep. I was a bit fussy and rejected my egg again!  I was happy to see Julie here this morning and ate a little bit of cereal at 7:20.  Nana got here at 9 and I was fussy but also playful at times.  I slept at 11 and woke up at 2:10 in a pretty good mood.  We washed my pacifiers, ate pumpkin ravioli and chicken n’ dumplings.  I was a bit cranky in the afternoon, but enjoyed reading books.  After diner, I took a bath and went to sleep!

Last year I was hanging out with Grandma Droste!

1/25-26: Another Cold!

So saaaad!

I had a bit of a rough night last night; I was up between 3 and 4 am.  I was in a good mood — I even sang Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star — but I felt a little warm so Mom gave me some Tylenol.  I woke up with Julie at around 6:40 and we read lots of books before breakfast.  I didn’t eat much oatmeal, but devoured my egg, as usual.  I spilled milk all over my pants.  I’m blaming my runny nose!

When Nana got here, I was fussy and a bit warm.  My runny nose was constant all day.  I ate  few Os and sipped some water, but wasn’t too happy all morning.  I took a mini-nap from 10:15 to 11:00 and felt a bit better when I got up.  I had a rough poop, ate a decent lunch, and then napped at 1:15.

When Mom got hom, I had a 102.7 fever.  I took motrin, at some yogurt, read some books, pooped, and then just laid on the floor.  Mom got worried and took me in to the doctor.  I didn’t want to bring my doctor’s kit; instead, I brought my president flash cards and a picture of my cousin Hunter!

When we got in the exam room, I wanted to play with a tongue depressor (which Dad always lets me do), but Mom said we had to ask the doctor.  So, I opened the door and yelled down the hall, “Doctor, where are you?!”  The doc was really impressed by me!  She said I was “so amazingly good” and said that I’m really advanced for my age!

I assumed I had an ear infection, but my ears were perfect.  I had a red, swollen throat and didn’t even cry when she stuck a Q-tip in my mouth.  The culture was negative for strep throat; I think I just have  avirus.  We got home and I was in bed by 9:15.  I slept on and off all night, but my fever seemed to break around 10:30.

I stayed home from school on Tuesday.  Mom was nice enough to stay with me until 9  and Nana was nice enough to come over and take care of me!  I got up at 6:40 and took a shower with Mom.   I didn’t want to eat an egg for breakfast, but ate yogurt and blueberries.

Nana got here and we read Arabic books and I nibbled on Nana’s cereal.  I was really hungry for lunch and ate really well.  I napped from 1 to 4:20 (!) and was in a great mood when I got up.  Rachel came around 5.  I didn’t eat too much but was in a good mood.  I had a rough time falling asleep, but finally dozed off by 8:00.

Last year I hung out with Uncle Dee-da

Do you eat this well?

1/24: Bye-bye Aunt Claire!

Smile for the camera!

I got up this morning and instead of Dad being his usual morning-person self, he tried to convince me to go back to sleep. Failing that, he picked me up and put me in his bed, right between himself and Mom.  That was strange.  Then Mom got up with me and played with me.  She noticed that I was congested, so she started getting ready to take a shower with me.  By this time, Dad realized that he wasn’t going to be able to fall back asleep, so he got up and took a shower with me so Mom could go back to sleep.

After we showered we got dressed and went downstairs.  We cooked an egg and ate a good breakfast.  Then Aunt Claire came upstairs and hung out with us.  We all played and read together.  Dad and I read Where’s the Poop five times!  And then I read a lot with Claire, too.  I was hungry around 9:00 so I got a little yogurt snack with A/C.  Check out all the fun we were having:

At 11:00 we went to Moonshine for brunch.  I saw a bunch of new friends: Connor, Natalie, and Isabella.  Connor has toy cars — I think I want some!  I didn’t eat too much of the stuff Daddy brought, but I was more than happy to share some of Connor’s pancake.  We got back home and I took a nap.

Dad got me up even though I was calling for Mom.  We went straight down to the office where Mom and Dad had made a lot of progress cleaning it up.  A/C was getting ready to go, Dad was getting ready to go to work tomorrow, and Mom was cleaning, so they all pitched in to entertain me but I also amused myself for a while:

I was so sad when Aunt Claire left to go on a plane back to school.  I’m not going to see her until our birthday parties!  I was so saaad!  After they left, Dad and I cooked fish and got ready for dinner.

Last year Nana came back!

1/22-23: Mommy’s Back!

So glad Mom's back!

I slept in a bit more than usual and got up with Dad.  We took a shower and I got another double-burrito.  I made breakfast with Dad and ate my eggs and oatmeal.  I went downstairs and woke up A/C and hung out with her all morning.  A/C and I read a bunch of books and I went downstairs to visit Dad and see his friends Max and Sarah on the webcam.

A/C and I walked to the library and reads lots of books — we even got to take home six of them!  We stopped by Starbucks and I got two drinks!  Not only Starbucks water, but also Starbucks milk, which is just like the kind I drink at home.

Dad took a break from work to give me lunch and put me to bed.  I got up earlier than I was supposed to, So A/C helped Dad out by watching me until Nana came.  Nana and I played for a couple hours and had a lot of fun, including learning about good food and bad food:

I was so excited when Mom got home!  Yay!  I (yes, me, not Mom!) realized that she had picked up the wrong suitcase from the airport!  So Mom and I went to a gas station to meet up with the person who had Mom’s suitcase (and my dog umbrella!).  I ate a good dinner and then Mom took me upstairs and put me to bed.

On Saturday morning I woke up with Dad and we ate breakfast and then went to Stanley’s and Whole Foods.  Mom and I went to soccer practice, with our third head coach in three weeks:

After practice, Mom and A/C went to some ballet class while Dad and I cooked Apple Rings and Chicken Twisters.  They were so good!  I ate two apple rings and one twister before taking a nap.  When I woke up, it was very clear that I had a cold.  I was cranky and was sneezing like crazy.  I watched some videos with A/C and then read books with Mom.

Then Mom, Dad, and I went down to the office and rearranged it.  There was so much stuff in it and now there’s a lot more room for me to have fun and play in.  For dinner, I ate more chicken twisters and another apple ring (yum!).  I rejected the root veggies (again), but devoured both hummus and chick peas!

Last year Aunt Claire left me; so saaaad!

Finally I look the part.

1/19-21: A Week Without Mommy!

Eating the bowl...literally!

I got up on Tuesday with Dad and we hurried up to get ready to go to school.  On our way out the door, I stopped by A/C’s door and woke her up, which is always fun.  There wasn’t much traffic on the way to school, which was great.  We sang a lot and Dad hung out in the classroom for a few minutes before going on to work.

I had a lot of fun playing peek-a-boo with Lexi in the cubbies.  I was also very polite and practiced using my manners all day.  Dad picked me up and we had a pretty good ride home, too.  Grandpa came over and Dad put me to bed early because he had a dinner to go to.

On Wednesday morning, I woke up with Dad and started the day with another shower and double-burrito.  After breakfast, I played with Aunt Claire and read “Snowy Day” three times.  I loved saying “deep, deep snow!”  We read a lot more books and then we got all bundled up (A/C called me a puffball!).  We headed up to the library and A/C and I got hyped up all the way there talking about how great it was going to be.  When we got there, we were so sad to find out that it was closed!  So saaaaad!

We stopped at Starbucks and hung out there a while to warm up.  I talked to lots of people and got some Starbucks water.  I got the kids snack pack but A/C only let me have the string cheese.    I was in a great mood when we got home, we played in the kitchen and I even jumped on A/C.  I had a good lunch and took my nap around 12:15.

I woke up with Nana and had a really fun afternoon reading and speaking a lot of Arabic!  A/C took care of dinner and putting me to bed.

On Thursday, Dad and I got up and hustled out the door to school.  I woke up A/C again and we got lucky with traffic again.  I gave Dad a bit of a hard time when he tried to leave, but then I just said “Go away Daddy!” and off he went.  I was really excited for breakfast (Dad forgot to give me a snack!) and I announced “Yummy yummy in my tummy!”

The ride home was slower, as usual.  When we finally got hom, A/C already had dinner ready for me.  I ate pretty well and then went to bed.  I miss Mommy!
